How do I do that?

One of the many lessons that my PlaneTalk Online course teaches is the ability to literally see the music down there on the fretboard in all positions, in this case, aĀ bluesy phrase that fits over a dominant 7th chord. I'm looking down and seeing a very powerful landmark down there and I can see how that line fits around it.Ā I'm not thinking pentatonic or any other scale or mode, I'm simply seeing the essence of a 7th chord all over the fretboard and creating a line in that flavor. Once I have the line, I can then instantly see it wherever else it occurs on the fingerboard.

It does take practice, of course, lots of it, but it's really just that simple landmark that allows me to haveĀ that instant access to every square inch of the fretboard.
