Kirk Lorange's Music and Guitar Course

Everything you always wanted to know about Music and the Guitar ... in plain English.

Becoming proficient on the guitar is a daunting task, no doubt about it, and the one thing I know for certain, after playing for over 60 years, is that understanding the basic structure of music is paramount. That's what you will learn here ... in plain old English. I use videos, animations, graphics and easy-to-understand analogies to do that. You will also learn about the various techniques you will need as a guitarist. So, if your goal is to go beyond hacking out a few chords for a campfire sing-along and actually play the guitar, I invite you to sign up and begin your journey.

What does this Course include?

  • Section 1 - The Guitar  - looks at the instrument itself: the different kinds of guitar,  the names and functions of its bits and pieces, how it's tuned and how to change strings.
  • Section 2 - What is Music? - looks at the raw ingredients of Music: sound and time ... In plain English. No need to learn Greek, no gobbledegook. You will learn about notes—the sound aspect—and intervals, which are the 'spaces' between notes. Intervals determine how we can group notes into different batches called scales. You'll also learn the fundamentals of the time aspect of music—beats—and how they can also be grouped.
  • Section 3Chords - is where the raw ingredients come together to make music. We take scales and reduce them into smaller groups, or chords. Chords are by far the most important aspect to concentrate on. You will learn what they are and where they come from, and of the many flavors they come in and they can be strung together into chord progressions. This is by far the most important section.
  • Section 4 - Playing the Guitar - is an overview of the many techniques you will need as a player: strumming, hammer-ons, pull-offs, harmonics, reading TAB, transposing songs using a capo.

And much more...
